Series 7 Exam

The FINRA Series 7 Exam is more formally called the General Securities Representative Qualification Examination. It is a test for Registered Representatives, or those who want to sell any type of securities.

Once you pass your test, and meet the other requirements, you will get your Series 7 License. At that point you are qualified for the solicitation, purchase, and sale of all securities products, including:

• Municipal fund securities
• Corporate securities
• Options
• Direct participation programs
• Variable contracts
• Investment company products

The Series 7 Exam is 3 hours and 45 minutes in length. It consists of 125 multiple choice questions along with 10 un-scored pretest questions that are randomly distributed. It costs $245 to register and the passing score is 72. The exam covers the 4 major job functions of a general securities representative. SIE Exam
